Here's Playboy's playmate for the month of January. A very lovely unpinned pin-up to help you welcome in the New Year. That's all the text that appeared with Margie's Playmate picture, but Playboy's first-ever Miss January had a special charm. There is something about her face in her centerfold shot -- a pose which, by the way, appears to have been inspired by Copenhagen's "Little Mermaid" statue -- that reminds us of movie great Ava Gardner. In Playboy's early years, leading ladies occasionally had repeat performances as Playmates. Margie, who was a popular model for pin-up calendars during the Fifties, returned later in 1954 as Miss June.
