Hal Adams photographed Marguerite, a California model and nudist, in what turned out to be the first of two appearances as a Playmate. Author Gay Talese interviewed her -- under her married name, Diane Webber -- for his landmark study of the sexual revolution, "Thy Neighbor's Wife," published in 1980. Marguerite's second centerfold, shot by Russ Meyer, was published in February 1956; in 1958, she starred on the cover of the very first Playmate Calendar, which sold for fifty cents -- then the same price as the magazine.
