Four times a Playboy cover girl, Teddi Smith came from Los Angeles to Chicago, where she worked in the magazine's offices and as a Playboy Bunny. Recalls Hefner: "I got a personal letter from her mother asking me to take care of her girl, and I did." Taking up the story, Teddi remembers: "I was the first girl ever to live at the Mansion in Chicago. That started the whole concept of the Bunny Dorm and what to do with girls who came to town from Dubuque or someplace to work at the Club or pose as Playmates and didn't know the city. Where were they going to live?" For a time, Teddi worked for the magazine's Photo Department. "I traveled around with the photographers setting up the shots for the 'Girls of the Riviera' layout [July 1965]. Then I moved away from Chicago, and moved between Europe and Africa and New York for about seven years." Now settled in Manhattan, Teddi is a successful interior designer with clients ranging from apartment dwellers to Fortune 500 companies.
