Hugh Hefner met Delores when she was working as an "Adorable" at Chicago's Chez Paree nightclub; at the time, he was talking of starting his own club. When he did, Delores went to work for him as one of the pioneer Playboy Bunnies and became Miss May. "I grew up with the people from Playboy, Delores recalls. "I went around and helped open Clubs in Miami, New Orleans and elsewhere, training the Bunnies in food service and how to do the Bunny Dip. I was a Bunny Mother for about a year." With the doors Playboy opened for her, Delores went into show business as a dancer, an actress ("Muscle Beach Party," "The Time Travelers," "A Guide for the Married Man") and a makeup artist. After moving to California, she married, had a daughter and worked in fields ranging from real estate to public relations for, among other firms, the Los Angeles Raiders. At one point, she was secretary to former porn star Linda Lovelace, for whom she helped raise funds for a liver transplant. Twice a grandmother, Delores now lives in Arizona.
