When Heidi was 16, she immigrated to the United States with her mother, who had remarried, and sister. They settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she learned to be a hair stylist. Heidi married an actor, Chris Anders, and moved to California, where in early 1960 she met photographer Mario Casilli at a party. "He approached me about posing for Playboy," she recalls, "and he was gorgeous. I thought, 'Oh, no, he cannot see me in the nude!'" The Playboy lensman overcame her qualms, and Heidi became Miss June and posed for the memorable cover of her issue, a take-off on a dictionary page. Later, she worked as a Bunny at the Los Angeles Playboy Club. Having divorced Anders in 1966, she married Rainer Gehres in 1975. That marriage lasted 11 years. Now single, Heidi continues to work in Southern California as a hair stylist and dental hygienist for dogs and cats.
