Of Dutch-Indonesian ancestry, Petra was an athlete in high school, where she was a member of the track team; still fitness conscious today, she Rollerblades 20 miles per session. As an acting student, she needed head shots for her portfolio; unbeknownst to her, the photographer submitted them to Playboy. "Then he told me what he'd done and that Playboy wanted to shoot me," Petra reports. "So I hemmed and hawed for about three months and decided, 'What the hell?'" 

The modeling experience she has gained since her Playboy bow gave Petra ideas about how she'd go about producing her own calendar. So she called up a few Playmate buddies (and some other models she knew) and in 1996 produced the first of a series of pin-up calendars. She has also appeared on stage with the legendary June "The Bosom" Wilkinson in a production of "Pyjama Tops" in Canada, and in 1997 was named Model of the Year by readers of Playboy's NEWSSTAND Specials.
