There are places in this world where something so horrible, so tragic or so evil took place that many years after the event happened
2. Ten Years Earlier. Austin, Texas.
3. Location: The Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Site
On Friday, March 8, 2005, I took a day trip out to the Ambush Site to photograph the area and the Historical Marker.
the location leaves an imprint or as I call it, a psychic scar.
For Example:
1. During my trip to LA back in 2005, I decided to go on a "ghost tour".
We wound our way throught he Hollywood Hills (much to the protests of my stomach which had
taken in some hot, spicy pasta and some wine about an hour before).
At one pont, our dutious (and dubious) driver stoped at the side of the road
and told us we could get out and have a look around. We did.
I walked a few yards and looked south to see the Los Angeles Valley stretched out before me.
The City was covered in a thick blanket of fog and it added an etherealness to the night.
As I looked out upon the fog enshrouded city a mother and her preteen daughter stood next to me and
the little girl said, "Mommy, I don't like it here. Can we go?" The mother said everything would be okay but the girl
was adamant. "Something bad is here. Let's go."
The mother said it was just her imagination.
At this point, I spoke up and said, "I believe your daughter is quite correct. I feel it, too."
There was a heaviness in the area as if the very air which surrounded us was negitively charged.
She looked at me for a moment then nodded with a look of uncertainty in her eyes.
We went back to the van and when we were all gathered round the Guide, he told us that we now stood in front of the gate
which once lead to the residence of Roman Polanski and his wife, Sharon Tate.
I heard another tourist mutter, "Jesus...".
We left that place and went up around the hill to the former estate of Rudolf Valentino: Falcon's Lair.
Not long afterwards we wound our way back down into the city.
I had begun to sweat and was slightly nauseous. As we entered West Hollywood I asked the Guide to stop and let me out.
"But we still have 3 more places to go."
I told him I was about to be sick, so he let me out.
As I walked the rest of the way to my hotel, I lost my dinner in some bushes.
Was it just the hills and the winding roads that we drove thru or was it something else?
I was taking a bus up into North Austin to my new job as a Security Officer at the Dell plant.
As I rode along, I was reading a good book by Roger Zelazney called "Nine Princes In Amber".
Some time along the way as I was reading, I became aware of what I can only call a morbid heaviness to the air.
I tried to brush it off as just the weather but it would not go away.
Finally, I looked at my seat mate and point blank asked her, "Do you feel that?"
She just looked at me and nodded. It was then that I noticed our surroundings.
We were in a strip mall/shopping center which I had seen on the news.
There was once a Yogurt Shop located here where three teenage girls had worked.
It was in that shop that their lives tragically ended.
They were all shot executiuon style in the back of the head, the shop was robbed and then burned to cover up the evidence.
The killers were caught, regardless and they now await their turns to die on Death Row.
From 1932 to 1934, The Barrow Gang Robbed banks and killed people. They had an uncanny ability to slip from the grasp of the Law,
but as it does with all criminals, their luck ran out on May 23, 1934.
Acting on a tip, Texas Ranger Frank Hamer and six Police Officers from Local Law Enforcement in Louisiana, set up a road block on State 154,
GPS Coordinates, Latitude: 32°26'28.54"N, Longitude: 93° 5'33.67"W and waited.
They spotted Bonnie and Clyde's stolen car coming down the road. As Clyde brought the car to an almost full stop, Hamer and his posse opened fire.
The car was riddled with bullets and Bonnie and Clyde were killed instantly from the barrage from pistols, rifles, shotguns and machine guns.
Crowds of people turned out to see their dead bodies. They had been struck by approximately 173 bullets.
Going against Bonnie's wishes, they were not buried "side by side". Clyde was buried next to his brother Marvin "Buck" Barrow at
Western Heights Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Bonnie wass originally buried at Fishtrap Cemetery (a "Potter's Field" neat Downtowsn Dallas,
but her body was exhumed in the early 1970's and reburied at Crown Hill Memorial Park in West Dallas.
I arrived at the destination, pulled over and got out of the car. As I was getting my camera, I noticed something strange.
The air had a strange heaviness to it and the area was strangely silent. No insects, no birds, no animals. Not a sound.
I definitely got a case of the Creeps and once I took the photos, I left.
Two weeks later, I took a day trip to Dallas to photograph the graves of Bonnie, Clyde, "Buck" and his wife Blanche.
Recommendation: If you feel that you are going into a "psychicly scarred area" or feel threatened by a spirit or hostile entity,
meditate on the Love of God or just Love. Let it surround you. Envision yourself wrapped or bathed in a White Light that no "darkness" can pierce.
